Kowhai South Auckland is owned and operated by Ian & Trudy Smith.

Ian has been involved in roof restoration since he left school and learned his craft from his father, Ian senior, who worked in the industry right up until retirement. Generations of ‘old school’ knowledge combined with modern techniques and products ensures that the job is done right!

Ian and his wife Trudy, who handles all the admin and customer service, started Ian’s Roofing Services in 2009 before becoming part of the Kowhai group.

These days they’re a tightknit team of four, with everyone taking pride in their work and treating it as if it were their own business.

They’re a multi-skilled bunch and offer everything from moss kills, roof cleans and recoating, right through to leak call outs, general roof repairs, and reroofing.

And they’re as safety focused as they are versatile, with all the boys holding Site Safe & Working at Heights certification through Hazard Co.

The team shares a passion for cars and rugby. Ian’s also into Touch Rugby and has roped his adult kids and their friends into playing the Summer League which he and Trudy sponsor. As well as keeping 'roof fit' they reckon it’s a great way to get to know the people in their local community.

Based in Drury, Kowhai South Auckland covers from Otahuhu to Meremere.

Extremely professional and expert service. Fantastic communication and response to my inquiry regarding inspecting, quoting and repairing my roof in the middle of winter, thus preventing water leakage into my house which was 1 x day away from its first open house. Highly recommend them for people needing roof work done.
