​Kowhai Nelson / Tasman is owned and operated by Tim Nicholls.
 

Tim, who grew up in Christchurch, completed a roofing apprenticeship in Concrete Tile Roofing. Once qualified, he contracted to Monier Roofing for a couple of years before heading off on his OE, travelling around Europe working on terracotta and clay tile roofs.

 

On returning to NZ, Tim moved to Auckland to become a distributor for Monier Roofing trading as Nicholls Roofing Ltd later starting Roofrite, a roof painting business which he operated for 16 years. He then relocated to Nelson after securing the contract to provide Roof Tiles and bricks for a large Ryman Healthcare development there. This led him to extend his qualification to cover Metal Tile Roofing and, to round out his service offering, he took on Kowhai Nelson/Tasman.

 

The team has grown to six and they offer everything from moss kills, roof cleaning and recoating right through to leak call outs, maintenance, reroofing and scaffolding.

 

They’re as safety conscious as they are versatile, and hold an impressive array of credentials including Sitewise, Site Safe, Safety in Action, Working at Heights, Ropes and Harnesses and First Aid qualifications. Plus they’re LBP Certified.                      

                        

Outside of work Tim’s into anything and everything that involves being in or on the water. In the winter he keeps fit skiing and playing Touch Rugby and has been a rugby coach for over 9 years.
